Party Paper Materials
About The Design
Hester & Cook is a Nashville-based business providing high-quality, stylish materials centered around party and event planning, most notably their paper-based table settings. The objective was to illustrate designs for a line of products that fit in well with their niche party themes. I sought to introduce a distinctive and sophisticated party theme that has not been explored by them in the past—Scandinavian Folk Art.
The process first began with exploring more historical examples of Scandinavian folk art, though I drew inspiration primarily from contemporary interpretations, as it felt more suited towards Hester & Cook’s modern appeal. The design produced a series of four pieces: a table runner, a place card, a napkin, and a place mat. Each element is meant to embody the uniqueness associated with Scandinavian Folk Art paired with the elegance that is characteristic of Hester & Cook’s paper goods, presenting an innovative and unexplored option for any occasion.

Because Scandinavian folk art relies so heavily on symmetry, the napkin is designed to have the artwork repeated in all four corners. This way, the napkin folds into one clean design, but is mirrored across the unfolded napkin.

The table runner design can also be repurposed to fit the dimensions of a placemat.
